Crystal Healing Stones -
Metaphysical & Spiritual Meanings of Gemstones

ChakrasMany cultures around the world believe crystals and gemstones possess energy that can effect the balance within a person’s metaphysical, spiritual, emotional – and even physical well-being. It is widely believed that crstals and gemstones in contact with the body act as amplifiers to aid the flow of the body’s seven “Chakra” points.

For those unfamiliar with the terminology, “Chakras” are the wheels of energy located in the seven centers of the body. In addition to the basic scientific functions of the body such as blood flow and brain signals to the vital organs, the human body is also considered to have many “energy” fields  that can’t be seen under a microscope, nor can be explained in a medical journal. These energy fields help to maintain a healthy well-being, and the body’s seven Chakras are the main source of the flow of this energy. These Chakras rotate at different speeds to release energies throughout the body to maintain a spiritual, physical and emotional “balance”.

A person’s Chakras can become clogged with illness, stress and anxiety – creating the negative energies we all experience form time to time. There are many effective methods of re-opening the energies and creating a natural Chakra flow within the body including: Meditation, Yoga, Diet, Chiropractic care and Reiki to name just a few. Harnessing and using the power of crystals and gemstones in conjunction with other alternative methods will help releive stress and promote health, happiness and well-being.

Different stones have different effects on the Chakras in the body, and very often the effect of an individual stone will react within people in varying degrees. We encourage you to look beyond a stone or crystal’s “first impression” – take time to touch it, meditate with it. A well chosen piece of jewelry should do much more than look good on you – there should be a connection that will grow on you. Take care of them – cleanse them, charge them and wear them, you’ll find they need your energy as much as you do theirs.

Chakras and their psychological properties

The body’s Chakra points need to be in balance for a healthy mental and physical well-being – if one is under-active, another may become over-active to compensate (and vice versa). The seven are listed below, and from them you can determine which within your body are functioning and flowing properly, and which are either over - or under-active and need attention.

1 - Root chakra
Root ChakraThe Root chakra is focuses on your emotional and physical balance. If it is open, you feel grounded, stable and secure. You don't unnecessarily distrust people. You feel present in the here and now and connected to your physical body.

If you tend to be fearful or uncomfortable in social atmosphere, your Root chakra is probably under-active. You'd easily feel unwelcome.

If this chakra is over-active, you may be very materialistic and greedy. You're probably obsessed with being secure and resist change.

2 - Sacral chakra
Sacral ChakraThe Sacral chakra is about inner feeling and sexuality. When it is open, your feelings flow freely, and are expressed without you being over-emotional. You are open to intimacy and you can be passionate and lively. You have no problems dealing with your sexuality.

If you tend to be stiff and unemotional or have a "poker face," the Sacral chakra is under-active. You're not very open to people.

If this chakra is over-active, you tend to be emotional all the time. You'll feel emotionally attached to people and you can be very sexual.

3 - Navel chakra
Naval ChakraThe Navel chakra is about asserting yourself in a group. When it is open, you feel in control and you have sufficient self esteem.

When the Navel chakra is under-active, you tend to be passive and indecisive – unsure of yourself. You're probably timid and don't get what you want.

If this chakra is over-active, you are domineering  - egotistical and probably even aggressive.

4 - Heart chakra
Heart ChakraThe Heart chakra is about love, kindness and affection. When it is open, you are compassionate and friendly, and you work at harmonious relationships.

When your Heart chakra is under-active, you are cold and distant.

If this chakra is over-active, you are suffocating people with your love and your love probably has quite selfish or alternative motives.

5 - Throat chakra
Throat ChakraThe Throat chakra is about self-expression and talking. When it is open, you have no problems expressing yourself, and you might be doing so as an artist.

When this chakra is under-active, you tend not to speak much, and you probably are introverted and shy. Not speaking the truth may block this chakra.

If this chakra is over-active, you tend to speak too much, usually to domineer and keep people at a distance. You don’t listen well, and dominate a conversation.

6 - Third Eye chakra
Third Eye ChakraThe Third Eye chakra is about insight and visualisation. When it is open, you have a good intuition. You may tend to fantasize.

If it is under-active, you're not very good at thinking for yourself, and you may tend to rely on authorities. You may be rigid in your thinking, relying on beliefs too much - often easily confused

If this chakra is over-active, you may daydream, possibly difficult distinguishing the fantasy from real-world.

7 - Crown chakra
Crown ChakraThe Crown chakra is about wisdom and being one with the world. When this chakra is open, you are unprejudiced and quite aware of the world and yourself.

If it is under-active, you're not very aware of spirituality. You're probably quite rigid in your thinking.

If this chakra is over-active, you are probably intellectualizing things too much. You may be addicted to spirituality and are probably ignoring your bodily needs.
